Attitudes to heritage in Florence and Krakow
15.10.2007 - 16.10.2007
Bilateral academic session organised by the ICC and the Italian Institute in Krakow. The aim of the conference was to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the ratification of the bilateral cooperation agreement between the two cities and the fifteenth anniversary of the signing of a joint declaration consolidating their friendship and cooperation. It was also a opprtunity to initiate a discussion on the role of historic cities in the changing political and economic conditions in Europe at the beginning of the 21st century.
The invited guests were Italian academics, politicians and researchers with an interest in the history of art, heritage management and conservation. They had the opportunity to share both their experience and observations with the session's Polish delegates, also experts from related fields, as well as with the large audience present.
Florence and Krakow towards heritage
Collective work, Jacek Purchla (ed.)
No doubt Florence and Krakow owe their high recognizability across the world to the rich, top-class heritage. That fosters a need for prudent management as well as a new interpretation and application of history's potential. These principal issues were the subject of the conference Florence and Krakow Towards Heritage, organised in Krakow on 15 and 16 October 2007. This book is a result of it.
