A large group of guests from Catalonia, representing a variety of academic and cultural fields, took part in the presentation about Barcelona in cooperation with the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB).
The two day conference, which was divided in four sessions, concentrated on issues from recent history. Experts from both sites tried to give answers to a range of  questions about the dynamic changes currently taking place both in Barcelona and Krakow.

This book is a fruit of the conference held in Krakow by the International Cultural Centre and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona on 29 and 30 March 2007. The Polish and Catalan authors brought up the topic of the fates of Krakow and Barcelona, from the history of the cities' founding to our age. The publication is rich in reflections on the heritage of Barcelona and Krakow and its relation with the present day. The subjects include political, ideological, social and economic impacts on the unique image of the Catalan and Małopolska capitals, as well as the cities' roles as cultural centres and cultural exchange agents. Some consideration is given to the chances and challenges created by the European integration, globalistaion and development of tourism. With the Polish and Catalan texts running parallel, each of the issues can be viewed from the perspective of both cities, which leads to a discovery of astonishing similarities and unexpected differences.
