The Myth of Galicia
04.11.2010 - 05.11.2010
The ICC continues a debate opened last year on the joint PolishAustrianUkrainian project. The initial idea of the project and exhibition on the myth of Galicia have been discussed within the ICC for a few years – a major subject of interest has been the phenomenon of Galicia in terms of culture and civi lisat ion. It is evidenced by numerous conferences, publications and educational programmes on the cultural heritage of this area. The ICC has been collecting publications on Galicia for many years.
Having gained expertise in this area, while at the same time being aware that Galicia’s cultural heritage is still underused, the ICC has decided to launch a multiannual trilateral research and development project to culminate in the multimedia exhibition The Myth of Galicia,to be based on museum, library and archive collections (including private collections). The public presentation of the exhibition in Vienna,Krakow and Lviv is planned for 2014, on the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of WWI.
The second working meeting of the Austrian-Polish-Ukrainian team who is preparing an exhibition with a catalogue for the Myth of Galicia project will take place in November. In 2014 the exhibition will be displayed in Vienna, Krakow and Lviv.
